Tony Rife

Tony R. Rife, 71, of Carey, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 6:07 p.m. at his home in Carey.
Tony was born on Nov. 26, 1954, in Upper Sandusky, to Forrest and Reva (Wuescher) Rife, both of whom are deceased. He married Dana Grove on Sept. 4, 1999, and she survives.
He is survived by his sons, Zac Rife of Findlay, Lucas (Ashton) Rife of Mobile, Ala., and a step-son, Thomas (Macee) Josserand of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, Storm Dible, Lane Rife, Bridget Swavel, Leilani Josserand, Kierra Rife and Lucy Josserand; and three great-grandchildren. Tony is also survived by his two sisters, Goldie Huffman of Upper Sandusky and Pearl Brady of Mt. Clements, Mich.
He was preceded in death by a son, Telo Grove, and two brothers, Kenneth Minard and Earl Minard.
Tony had worked at Ithica Gun Company in Upper Sandusky, and also had worked for Northern Ohio Explosives of Forest.
He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church and Wildwood Chapel, both in Upper Sandusky, along with being a former Boy Scout Leader for Scout Pack #400 in McCutchenville.
For hobbies, Tony enjoyed listening to Celtic music, and most of all, spending time hunting, fishing and shooting his guns. Funeral services for Tony Rife will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Lucas Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Visitations will be held on Friday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.                            Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wyandot Memorial Hospital and may be sent to Lucas Batton Funeral Home, 476 S.
