Earl W. Coppler, 90, Carey, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Upper Sandusky.
Born in Oscoda, Mich., on Nov. 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Charles and Artha (Newman) Coppler.
He married Della J. Weaver and they divorced.
Earl is survived by a son, Danny C. (Carmen) Coppler, Carey; three grandchildren, Steven Coppler, Kristie Sorg and Autumn Bostater; 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim A. Coppler, four brothers and seven sisters.
Earl was a tool and die maker by trade, retiring from Textrone in Fostoria. He enjoyed trapshooting, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He loved traveling as he was able to visit all 50 states.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a volunteer fireman on the Carey Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of the Carey EMS. He was a member of VFW #3759, American Legion #344, all in Carey, and BPOE #83 in Upper Sandusky. He served as director of the Jaycees.
Visitation was held Aug. 10 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey.
The funeral service was held Aug. 11 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen Farr officiating. Military rites followed the service, conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
