Edward Shaffer

Edward Shaffer, 95, of Upper Sandusky, died at Fairhaven Health Care Community on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018.
He was born May 4, 1922, in Upper Sandusky to the late Howard and Minnie (Agerter) Shaffer. Mr. Shaffer married Donna R. Sigler on Nov. 16, 1947, in the former North Salem Lutheran Church and they celebrated 70 years of marriage this last year. She survives in rural Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by three daughters, Teresa Shaffer, Upper Sandusky; Martha (George) Kraus, Tiffin; and Cynthia (Michael) Courtad, Upper Sandusky; two grandchildren, Dustin (Kara) Kraus and Nicole (Tom) Menning; three great-grandchildren Tylar Menning, Alexander and Ava Kraus. He was preceded in death eight brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Shaffer was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served several terms as trustee, sang tenor in the church choir and was on the church dart ball league for 68 years. He graduated from Salem High School with the class of 1941. Mr. Shaffer was a WWII United States Army Air Corp Veteran. He retired from Schmidt Machine after 40 years as a mechanic. Mr. Shaffer was a member of Massey Harris Ferguson Club of Ohio and Indian Mill Antique Association. He enjoyed restoring Massey Harris tractors and entering them in local parades. He also enjoyed attending Upper Sandusky High School basketball and football games.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Bringman Clark Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home with the Rev. Edward Hunker officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
