Charles Allen

Charles W. “Bill” Allen, 71, of Vanlue, died at 11:32 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at the Celina Manor in Celina.
Born April 28, 1947 in Ronceverte, W.Va., he was the son of the late Alfred Ernest and Gladys Irene (Leslie) Allen. He married Sharon Luzader in Carey on Dec. 1, 1996. She survives in Vanlue.
He is also survived by four children, Patricia Allen of Wisconsin; William (Heidi) Allen of North Carolina; Crista (Les) Roehling and Steven Allen both of Galion; four step-daughters, Dawn (Leonard) Gault of Findlay; Shawn (Terry) Geiser, Audra Stroub and Samantha (Jamie) Fletcher all of Carey; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and his four-legged buddy, Spirit.
Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a step-grandson and a brother, James O’Brien.
A 1966 graduate of Carey High School, he proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a bronze star. He was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
Bill was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes and Detroit Lions, loved watching John Wayne movies and enjoyed being a practical joker, even in his last hours of life.
At Billy’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. There will be a private family burial of his remains at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. The Carey Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites.
