Lorine Oman
Lorine C. Oman, 100, of Vanlue, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Birchaven Care Center, Findlay.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Amanda Township to the late George W. and Rosamond H. (Parker) Oman.
She is survived by her nephews, Charles L. (Brenda) Oman and Nathan W. Hartman.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal and Ruth Oman; a sister-in-law, Irene H. Oman; and two brothers, John W. and John Sherman Oman.
Miss Oman was a retired teacher and high school principal having taught in Paulding County, Arlington and Vanlue High School for 34 years. She was an alumna of Vanlue High School, The University of Findlay, the University of Colorado at Boulder and was also enrolled in summer programs at Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo.
Lorine was a member of Vanlue Community Church, president of UMW and taught an adult class for many years. She was a 45-year member of the Alpha Sigma chapter of DKG, an honorary member of women teachers organization and a part of national, state and local education associations. She belonged to the Vanlue Garden Club and was a member of Portage Holiness Camp.
After retirement she joined the Hancock County Retired Teachers and traveled extensively with them. Winters were spent at the Florida Holiness campgrounds in Lakeland, Fla.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home the Rev. Melanie Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Cemetery, Amanda Township.
