Mary Kitzler

Mary E. Kitzler, 103, Carey, died Friday, May 22, 2020, at Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus.
Born in Carey on June 2, 1916, she was the daughter of Cyril M. and Naomi (Clinger) Brown (Braun). They preceded her in death, as well as her step-mother, Henrietta Brown.
Mary married Kenneth A. Kitzler on July 24, 1937. He preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 1984.
She is survived by a son, James F. (Darlene) Kitzler of Carey; four grandchildren: Kenneth Bryan (Marie) Kitzler, Tiara Kitzler, Clayton (Katelynn Romaker) Kitzler and Torri (Dustin Dyer) Kitzler; and one great-grandchild, Declyn Dyer.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelma Ruth Braun and Jeannine O. Eschbaugh and a half brother, Bill McVan.
Mary was a 1934 graduate of Carey High School. She had worked at Porcelain Products and Jacobs Soda Grill. She was a housewife thereafter.
She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary #344, Carey Philharmonic Society, former President of Mothers Helpers of OLC School and a former election board volunteer.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. John Bamman, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Carey. Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Consolation School and sent to Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay Street, Carey, OH 43316.
