William Young
William Sterlie Young, 71, of Findlay, died at 3:56 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at Bridge Hospice Carey Center in Findlay.
Born March 12, 1949 in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of the late Gussie M. and Martha E. (Hayes) Young Sr. He married Linda Caudill and they divorced. He later married Threesa D. Evans on May 28, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 6, 1996.
He is survived by five children: Michael James Clintsman of Kansas City, Mo., Larry Lee (Cherie) Clintsman of Findlay, Kimberley D. (Kenneth) Thiel of Forest, Scott Allen (Michelle) Young of Forest and Andrew David (Nikole) Young of Bradford; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Gussie M. (Sharon) Young Jr. of Evans, Ga. and Cheryl Stansbery of Upper Sandusky; and companion, Barb Zeigler of Upper Sandusky.
Sterlie was a 1967 graduate of Carey High School. He went on to be a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from Budd Company in Carey after many years of service.
An outdoorsman, he loved fishing whenever he had the chance. He was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Duke Blue Devils basketball and Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed listening to ’50s and ’60s music and Paul Harvey’s “Rest of the Story” program on the radio while night fishing with his children.
Sterlie was a family man who loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, June 4, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. Social distancing and COVID-19 protocol will be followed at all times.
The funeral service will be held at noon the same day, at the funeral home with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
