Christopher Enke

Christopher “Chris” James Enke, 53, of Jefferson City, Mo., and formerly of Carey, passed away at 7:28 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo.
Chris was born April 20, 1967, in San Diego, Calif. He was the son of Michelle Herndon and the late Kevin Enke.
Survivors include his mother, Michelle (Nick) Herndon; significant other, Charlotte Drinkard; one son, C.J. (Miranda) Enke; one step-son, Andrew Joseph; five daughters, Rachel (Jay Ward) Enke, Sarah (Barry) Keith, Heather (Josiah) Endsley, Samantha (Shawn Coles) Enke and Sidney Enke; 13 grandchildren, Yumalayla Ward, Peyton Bosley, Presleigh Hudson, Paxton Bosley, Elijah and Amari Keith, Bayne and Landon Joseph, Tyleigh Coles, Raelynn, Emersyn and Amelia Enke and Rory Endsley; a brother, Richard Enke; and sister, Kelly Nabors.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Ann Milano; his father, Kevin Enke; and grandson, Parker Bosley.
Chris spent most of his life in Carey and Tiffin, then moved to Missouri in 2011. He always loved seeing a smile on everyone’s face even if that meant poking fun and teasing. He always had something funny to say, even if you didn’t want to hear it. Chris was an avid KISS fan, a true Dallas Cowboys and Ohio State football fan and loved spending his spare time grilling, swimming, camping and fishing with his love, Charlotte. Chris also loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren when possible.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Carey VFW Hall, 121 E. Findlay Street, Carey. The family encourages anybody who knew Chris to stop by and help celebrate his life. Cowboys or Ohio State football gear is encouraged. Cremation was performed at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service in California, Mo. There will be no burial held at this time.
