Howard Kloeppel

Howard “Lee” Kloeppel, 78, of Fostoria, died peacfully in his sleep on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at his home.
Lee was born in Delphos on June 14, 1943, to the late Howard F. and Rita Rose Gertrude (Geise) Kloeppel. Lee was raised on the family farm and graduated from Bluffton High School in 1961. After graduation, he married Barbara Sue Prater and had four wonderful children together. They later divorced and Barbara survives in Carey.
Lee worked the majority of his life as a truck driver for BOC Gas in Fostoria. Not being able to sit still after retirement, Lee continued to work many years as the groundskeeper for Wayside Golf Course.
In Lee’s free time, he could often be found golfing at least 18 holes a day-rain or shine. Alway providing for his family, Lee worked countless hours and remolded the family home. In younger years, he enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and racing cars.
Lee was truly a family man and was the best dad and grandpa “Pappy” ever. He enjoyed teaching his grandkids how to golf, shoot guns and made sure to attend all of their sporting events.
Lee will be missed by his children, Rick L. Kloeppel of Findlay, Christopher A. (Casey) Kloeppel of Alvada, Lori L. Brown of Findlay and Kandi S. Turnbell of Carey; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, siblings, Paul (Roxie) Kloeppel of Ottawa, Jerry (Mary) Kloeppel of Ada, Don (Karen) Kloeppel of Beverdam, Tom Kloeppel of Lima and Cathy (Gary) Turnwald of Ottoville; along with countless nieces and nephews and best friends (extended family), Lester Rowe and Dan Vitt.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Martin “Marty” Turnbell; and daughter in-law, Lisa Hartzell.
Visitation will be held at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, on Thursday, July 15, from 4-7 p.m.
