Terrance Kitzler
Terrance A. “Terry” Kitzler, 68, of Carey, passed away peacefully at 8:09 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay with his family by his side.
Born March 16, 1953, in Upper Sandusky, he was one of 10 children. His parents, Robert C. and Edith L. (Greeno) Kitzler preceded him in death. On Feb. 7, 1981, he married Julia A. Vogel. She survives in Carey. Terry is also survived by three daughters, Misty Risner of Ft. Myers, Fl.; Amanda (Roger) Damron of Carey and Kristy (Ryan) Gottfried of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maddie, Abigail, Sophia, Shelby, Sydney, Seylor, Dalton and Grady; and five siblings, Lucille (Dallas Risner) Cramer of Findlay, Roberta (Ron Nye) Marshall of Alvada, Chuck Kitzler of Carey, Ed (Phyllis) Kitzler of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and Bill (Tonya) Kitzler of Carey.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Chantel Kin; two brothers, Frank and Richard “Dick” Kitzler; and two sisters, Gloria Marshall and Kim Badertcher.
Terry was an easy going, soft spoken guy. He had an infectious smile that literally went ear to ear. He will be missed cruising the streets of Carey in his vehicle or on the scooter.
Terry was a family man who loved watching his grandchildren at various events. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends at Bob’s Countryside Golf Course.
Known to be a social butterfly, he was a member of the American Legion 344 Auxiliary, Eagles Aerie 2198, Carey Conservation Club and life member of the VFW 3759, all of Carey and the Moose Lodge 872 in New Riegel.
He was a lifelong member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey and also served on the Village of Carey Park Board.
Friends will be received 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, where a scripture service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Tom Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey.
