Donald Hill

Donald “Chip” Hill, 69, of Upper Sandusky, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, in Cleveland.
Chip was born on Oct. 20, 1953, in Tiffin, to Donald D. and Irma (Niederkohr) Hill. He married Nancy Vaughn on Oct. 19, 1973, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Chip is also survived by his four children, Jason (Ryan) Hill of Upper Sandusky, Josh (Malinda) Hill of Columbus, Ashley Hill of Perrysburg, and Brittany (Brittan) Reichley of Findlay; three grandchildren, Emily, Evan and Ethan Hill; his mother, Irma Hill of Carey, and his seven siblings, Deborah Nickelson, Janet (Ron) Pieracini, Carmen (Danny) Coppler, Colleen (Larry) Baer, Brenda (Mike) Eingle, Lynnette (Joey) Saucedo and Curtis (Katie) Hill.
Chip was preceded in death by his father, Donald D. Hill.
Chip graduated from Carey High School in 1971 and in his younger years, worked for his dad at Burson-Hill Clothing Store in Carey. He then went on to work at Guardian Industries for 45 years until his retirement in 2019.
Chip was a member of Knights of Columbus in Upper Sandusky and Elks BPOE #83 for many years. He also participated in various golf and bowling leagues over the years.
Chip enjoyed spending time outdoors going mushroom hunting and trips to Canada. His weekends were spent fishing and watching sunsets at the family pond. Chip was known for working outside in the garden or mowing the yard. He adored watching old westerns, cooking and fishing shows on TV. Chip also loved going to Amish country with his wife Nancy.
Above all else, Chip loved his family and he put them first. Chip loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved going to their various sporting events where he was always the loudest one cheering them on. He had a great sense of humor, was a hardworking, dedicated,and loving husband, father, grandfather and son.
A funeral service for Donald “Chip” Hill will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and will be officiated by Deacon Kevin Wintersteller.
Visitations will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the funeral home.
