Jessie Farley

Jessie F. Farley, 84, of Carey, passed away unexpectedly at 5:07 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at her residence.
Born on Jan. 15, 1939, in Wyandot County, she was the daughter of John and Hilda (Gutenberg) Davidson. She married James F. Farley on Nov. 9, 1963, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa (Scott) Miller and Rita Leatherwood, both of Carey; six grandchildren, Cory, Justin, Mycala, Dillion, Jarod and Caleb; a great-granddaughter, Adah Mae; three siblings, Winifred Ohlinger of Carey, Irene Cass of Wyoming and Bill (Porki) Davidson of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and two sisters-in-law, Edna “Cookie” Davidson and Dorothy Davidson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, James A. Farley; five brothers, Ed, John “Barney,” Don, Mark and Ralph Davidson; and three sisters, Mary Katherine Welly, Rachel Long and Shirley Ellison.
Jessie graduated from the former Salem High School near Upper Sandusky in 1957. She retired from Porcelain Products in 2003, where she was the payroll clerk for many years. Finding retirement boring, she finished her working career in payroll at Precision Concrete Cutting in Carey.
Jessie was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey and volunteered on the RCIA team for several years.
Jessie looked forward to yucking it up with her “girls” in the Red Hat Society. Her love of people spilled over to friends at the VFW and American Legion. She was a life member of the VFW 3759 Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion 334 Auxiliary, both in Carey.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, with the Rev. Tom Merrill officiating. Burial will follow at Salem St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Upper Sandusky.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Dorcas Carey Public Library or Hospice of Wyandot County and sent to the funeral home.
