Joyce McMillan

Joyce Ann McMillan, 80, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, surrounded by her family at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
Joyce was born on June 30, 1942, in Bucyrus, to Woodrow and Irene (Miller) Orians, both of whom are deceased. She was once married to James McMillan in Upper Sandusky, and he survives, along with their sons, Eric (Janine) McMillan and Darin McMillan, both of Upper Sandusky, and Curtis (Stacey) McMillan of Nevada; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Nathaniel, Megan, Daulton, Dylan, Mallory, Averi and Samuel; along with two great-grandchildren, Dean and Henry.
She is also survived by her siblings, Roger (friend, Ruth Ann Frey) Orians of Wharton, Michael (Sandra) Orians of Carey, Sue (Wayne) Derr of McCutchenville, Anthony (Kristin) Orians of Upper Sandusky, Philip (Gloria) Orians of Harpster, Charles (Diana) Orians of Upper Sandusky, Linda (David) Mangett of Arlington, Rebecca (Dennis) Eyestone of Upper Sandusky, Debrah (Larry) Thiel of Upper Sandusky, Elaine Niederkohr of Upper Sandusky, and Douglas (Melissa) Orians of Winterville, N.C.
Joyce was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Stark; a brother-in-law, Robert Niederkohr; and her special friend and companion for many years, Paul Swartz.
She was a graduate of the former Salem High School and went on to St. Rita’s School of Nursing in Lima. Joyce was a registered nurse in Upper Sandusky for many years, first working for Drs. Herschel A. Rhodes, Joseph J. Browne and KK Solacoff, then working for the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home before retiring.
Joyce was a member of Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church and the former Salem St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
For hobbies she enjoyed reading and was an avid sports fan. She was also very involved with her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their many activities through their school years.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, where a CLC service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, at Salem St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Conrad Sutter, OFM Conv., and Deacon Kevin Winterstellar officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a service prior to the mass by Ohio Nurse Honor Guard Coalition.
