Brenda Phillips

Brenda Lynn Phillips, 62, of Tiffin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
Brenda was born on Feb. 26, 1961, in Ashland, Ky., to the late Charles and Beverly J. (Nunley) Messmer. Brenda grew up and attended school in Upper Sandusky. Brenda later attended Stautzenberger Community College where she was enrolled in the medical assistant program.
While working at The Budd Company she caught the eye of Roger Phillips and after some light “chasing” and being transferred to the same department they were married on Sept. 30, 1989. In addition to working at The Budd Company, she worked as a paralegal and went on to work at Defiance Precision Products as a lab tech supervisor.
Brenda was a woman of faith and first joined The Harvest Time Chapel in Vanlue when she was 16. Having a heart of gold, Brenda welcomed anyone into her home who needed a home cooked meal. Brenda’s kitchen was always full of food and she could can anything. Holidays were extremely special to Brenda; she made sure everyone had Christmas gifts and there were thousands of Easter eggs hidden every year.
Brenda had an artistic nature and enjoyed crafting, drawing and creating scrapbooks. Always wanting to look perfect, she spent countless hours working on her nails, just to wipe it off and start over. In Brenda’s free time, she could be found working in her garden or soaking up the sun. She also enjoyed camping at Walnut Grove with her family.
Brenda will be missed for her warm and gentle smile by her husband, Roger; children, Amber Phillips of Lima, Tami (Jon) Tiell of Tiffin, Chelsea (Seth) Kitzler of Carey and Blake (Autumn) Phillips of Ada; grandchildren, Alexis, Logan, Mikaela, Ashton, Audrey, Hannah, Maggie Jo, Ryan, Leah, Alaina, Zayden and August; siblings, Pam (Steve) Gossman of Carey, Bill (Leisha) Messmer of Rush, Ky., and Babs (Ken) Atwell of Carey; sister-in-law, Linda Messmer of Louisa, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Aunt B.”
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Eddie” Messmer.
Visitation will be held at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, on Wednesday, May 31, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral will be held at The Harvest Time Chapel, Vanlue, on Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Donations may be made in Brenda’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
