Daryl Fredritz

Daryl James Fredritz, 48, of Carey, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at home.
Daryl was born in Tiffin, on Feb. 12, 1975, to Dennis and Debra (Taylor) Fredritz. Daryl grew up in Carey, where he attended Our Lady of Consolation Parish and OLC Elementary School. A true Blue Devil, Daryl was a 1993 graduate of Carey High School; while in school, he was active with FFA and 4-H and showed dairy feeders at the Wyandot County Fair.
Daryl was employed at Kalmbach Feeds for 15 years where he worked as a forklift operator in the warehouse; but his true calling in life was woodworking, a skill that he passed along to his youngest daughter Taylor. They spent most of their free time learning to make coffee tables, scroll saw art and other miscellaneous furniture. Daryl and his daughters also enjoyed spending time outdoors and took a road trip to Florida to spend time on the beach. In his free time, Daryl was the first to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes or Cleveland Browns and Guardians.
Daryl was a very quiet and shy individual, but once you got to know him you quickly realized he was full of life and would do anything for his daughters. In his free time, you could always find Daryl along the fence cheering them on while they twirled at a half-time show or sitting in a gym for countless hours to support his children at baton contests. He passed his love of animals to his daughters by spending weeks at the fair with them as they showed their rabbits.
After meeting Kristy Draper, the two were wed on Nov. 6, 2021. Together Daryl and Kristy blended their families and could be found spending time at Indian Lake where Daryl enjoyed camping and trying to swim.
Daryl will be missed by his parents, Dennis and Debra Fredritz of Carey; wife, Kristy Fredritz of Carey; daughters, Tori and Taylor Fredritz of Carey, bonus-children, Hallee (Kevin) Wheeler of Forest, and Charles Roby IV of Maine; granddaughter, Amelia; brothers, Shawn (Jaime) Fredritz and their children, Bradon and Owen, and Matthew (Megan) Fredritz and their children, Reagan and Tucker; grandfather, William Fredritz; former wife, Kathy (Knaup) Fredritz; and Winnie, his trusted canine companion.
Daryl was preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth and Helen Taylor and Lois Fredritz.
Visitation will be held at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey, on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 3-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 12, with the Rev. Conrad Sutter, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
