Winifred Ohlinger

Winifred Emeline Ohlinger, 94, of Carey, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at home.
Winifred was born, at home, on May 24, 1929, to the late John and Hilda (Gutenberg) Davidson. She graduated from Salem High School in 1948.
Winifred married Earl D. Ohlinger on May 19, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church near Salem Township. Winifred and Earl co-founded Intercontinental Communications Construction in Puerto Rico. In 1978, after their retirement, they moved back to the Carey area to manage the family farm. Earl preceded Winifred in death on Sept. 23, 2010.
Winifred was a devout Catholic attending St. Joseph Catholic Church most of her life. She loved taking care of the family farm, which has been in her family for more than 100 years, and enjoyed raising chickens. Winifred could often be found working around her yard and tending to her numerous flower beds and vegetable gardens.
Above all, Winifred loved her family. She lived an amazing life with stories for almost any occasion. From humble beginnings, Winifred never forgot her roots and would do anything to help those in need.
She will be missed by her son, Earl Daniel (Margarita) Ohlinger II; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Porki) Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Winifred was preceded in death by her daughter, Sabrina, and sisters, Mary Katherine Welly, Rachel Long, Shirley Ellison, Jessie Farley and Irene Cass; and brothers, Ed, John “Barney” Don, Mark and Ralph Davidson.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph-Salem Heritage Society, Carey, on Monday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Conrad Sutter, OFM Conv., presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
