Carolyn Bennett

Carolyn Joyce Bennett, 89, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at Vancrest of Upper Sandusky.
Joyce was born on April 1, 1935, in Wyandot County, to Ray C. and Gladys May (Ward) Shaffer, both of whom are deceased. She married Richard A. Bennett on Oct. 16, 1955, at Beech Grove Church and he passed away on Aug. 23, 2009.
She is survived by her three sons: Douglas Bennett of Upper Sandusky, Mark Bennett of Harpster, and Dirk (Alexis) Bennett of Upper Sandusky; along with five grandchildren: Sara Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Brooke Robertson, Jevin Bennett and Kaitlin Bennett; extended family: Evan Brodkin and Dylan Robertson; and three great grandchildren: Mason Bower-Boron, Wade Robertson and Oliver Robertson.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers: Raymond, Eldon, Wallace, Foster, Kenneth, Calvin and Frederick Shaffer; and two sisters: Crystal May Cole and Clara Louise Schoenberger.
She was a 1953 graduate of Wharton High School and a member for over 60 years of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky.
Joyce was a sports fan and enjoyed following the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, cooking, bird watching (especially red cardinals) and going out to eat with friends and family. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Funeral services for Joyce Bennett will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky.
