Judson Frederick

Judson G. (Jud) Frederick passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1925, in Carey, to Frank and Leora (Lantz) Frederick.
He served in the Army Infantry in World War II, where he saw combat in Italy, and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
After the war, he attended the University of Toledo, graduating with a bachelor of science in engineering. He worked for many years as a mechanical engineer at O-I.
In 1952, he married Virginia (Jacob) Frederick, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until she passed away in 2007.
Jud’s favorite pastimes were bowling, golf, fishing, traveling and gardening. He was known for his bountiful tomato garden, which he proudly shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams and later attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a long-time season ticket holder for University of Toledo football games. He was happiest when spending time with family and friends.
Jud was predeceased by his parents; wife; siblings, Richard, Paul, Frances, Emil, Frank and Robert; and son-in-law, Robert Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Jones; son, Mark Frederick; grandchildren, Kelley Jones, Michael (Kate), Daniel (Nikita Kubiak) and Victoria Frederick (Johnny Holcomb); great-grandchildren, Teagan Jarczynski and Ava Frederick; and very good friend, Ruth Gullikson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 1-4 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Toledo. Additional visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Toledo, preceding the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at 3 p.m. on Feb. 10 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
