Frances Lorraine Stephan, 86, of Carey, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Lorraine was born on Sept. 25, 1939, in Marietta, to the late Moore and Sarah (Liston) Wright. She married Karl W. Stephan on Sept. 3, 1960, in Marietta, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2018.
Lorraine is survived by her children, LeeAnn (James) Smarkel, Karl “Buzzy” (Stephanie) Stephan II, Jane (Bill) Bricely and Summer (Jerry) Fredritz; grandchildren, Abby, Sarah (Chase), Christopher (Julia), Noah (Mariana), Haleigh (Jacob), Haley (Dylan), Austin (Sydnie) and Mason; great-grandchildren, Kayce, Grayson, Parker, Leonora, Paisley, Aella, Bentley, Nova, Jaxon and Cade; siblings, James (Jody) Wright and Iris (Bud) Anderson; and sister-in-law, Charlene Stephan.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wright.
Lorraine found her greatest joy in caring for her home and family, and she took great pride in being a homemaker. She had a creative spirit and especially enjoyed crafting and creating beautiful Christmas ornaments, many of which became treasured keepsakes for family and friends. She also loved babysitting children, sharing her warmth and gentle heart with each one. When she wasn’t busy caring for others, Lorraine enjoyed sitting on her front porch, taking in the simple pleasures of life and visiting with family, friends and neighbors. Christmas was her favorite season, and she delighted in decorating her home, baking her beloved coffee cake, and making the holidays special for everyone around her. Loved by all who knew her, Lorraine will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and the love she shared so freely. Above all, her family meant everything to her and her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.
A celebration of life service in Lorraine’s honor will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lorraine’s honor to the Carey Athletic Boosters.
