Bernice Wickiser

Bernice Ann Wickiser, 85, of Carey, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
Bernice was born on Dec. 25, 1940, in Tiffin, to the late Francis and Isabelle (Roy) Goshe. She married Donald Wickiser on Jan. 19, 1963, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 2003. Bernice is survived by her sons, Larry (Stacy) Wickiser and James Wickiser; two grandchildren, Lucas (Elizabeth Mayer) Wickiser and Christy (Charles) Patten; a great-grandchild, Bonnie Patten and another one on the way.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bernard Goshe, Fred Goshe, Richard Goshe, Art Goshe and Agnes Pugh.
Bernice was a 1958 graduate of Old Fort High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church and CLC. Bernice found great joy in life’s simple pleasures and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. She had a true green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her flowers, taking great pride in watching them flourish. As the devoted wife of a farmer, she embraced the farming lifestyle and the values of hard work, perseverance, and family that came with it. Bernice also had a passion for genealogy, dedicating many hours to researching her family’s history and preserving its stories for future generations.
Those who knew Bernice will remember her as a patient, caring and kind-hearted woman with a wonderful sense of humor and remarkable intelligence. She possessed a quiet wisdom that made others feel valued and understood. Above all else, her family was the center of her world. She cherished every moment spent with her children and especially her grandchildren, whose accomplishments, milestones and everyday moments brought her immeasurable pride and happiness. The love she shared with her family will remain her greatest legacy.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 15, from 4-7 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
