Joan Shellhouse
Joan M. Shellhouse, 91, of rural Tiffin, died at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
She was born on April 25, 1934, in Bellevue, to Arthur and Justine (Hohman) Dendinger. She married Harold Shellhouse on Nov. 3, 1956, and he died April 12, 2002.
Surviving are the following children: Gary (Laurie) Shellhouse, rural Tiffin; Daryl (Julie) Shellhouse, rural Sycamore; Donald (Wendy) Shellhouse, rural Tiffin; and Vicki (Scott) Hartsel, rural Tiffin. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Kirsten (Shane) Rodabaugh, Jarred Shellhouse, Stephanie (Matt) Miner, Andrew (Brittany) Shellhouse, Chad (Deidra) Shellhouse, Haylie (Seth) Ankney, Logan (Sydney) Hartsel and Sidney Hartsel; plus nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Dendinger.
Joan was a homemaker and a 1952 graduate of Thompson High School. For hobbies Joan loved jigsaw puzzles, quilting and especially embroidering as she made each grandchild an embroidered blanket. She also loved to can, do cake decorating, work in her garden and liked all types of flowers. She loved her cats and spending time with family and have visitors to the house.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 4-8 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.
