Ann Johnson
Ann M. Johnson, 80, of Carey, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.
Ann was born on Sept. 16, 1945, in Delphos, to the late Steve and Helen (Pohlman) Dickman. She married Charles “Fritz” Johnson on June 18, 1966, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2009. Ann is survived by her son Eric (Shelly Burnett) Johnson; grandchildren, Caden (Kenz) Johnson and Alec Johnson; Logan, Piper Josie and Isaac Johnson; sisters, Patti (Phil) Hablitzel and Helen M. Dickman. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles “Chip” Johnson and her siblings, Jeanne Looser and John Dickman.
Ann was a 1963 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and furthered her education and received her master’s degree in education from Findlay University. Ann dedicated 30 years to shaping young minds as a sixth-grade teacher at Carey Exempted Village Schools, where she was admired for her commitment to education and the countless students whose lives she touched. A devoted member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, her faith remained an important part of her life.
Ann found great joy in traveling and treasured the time she spent at her lake house on Catawba Island, where many cherished memories were made with family and friends. She looked forward to her weekly Tuesday night dinners with her close friends, a tradition filled with laughter, conversation and lasting companionship.
Known for her independent spirit and strong, determined personality, Ann approached life with confidence and grace. Above all else, she was devoted to her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride and joy.
A graveside service will be held in Ann’s honor on Wednesday, July 29, at 11 a.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Merrill, OFM Conv., officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s honor to Bridge Hospice or Dorcas Carey Public Library.
