Roger Higgins
Roger Dewayne Higgins, of Findlay, formerly of Carey, slipped away at Bridge Hospice in Findlay on Friday, June 14, 2024.
He was born in Knox, Ind., on Aug. 10, 1947, to Meda (Montgomery) and Lacy Higgins. He graduated from Carey High School Class of 1965 and, later that year, married Phyllis J. (Ziegler) Higgins, with whom he shared 58 1/2 years of marriage.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Trudy (Ronnie) Snyder of Findlay and son, Bret W. Higgins of Carey. Also surviving are his brothers, Joe (Jane) Higgins of Carey and Gary (Mari) Higgins of Texas; his sister, Barbra (Don) Funchion of Carey; special grandchildren, Natasha (Zorn) Rowe and daughters Kylee and Kendal Rowe of Bucyrus; and Julie (King) Macedo and daughter Kaylee Linville and son Christian Linville of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley (John) Hale of Sycamore and brothers, Douglas Higgins of Fremont, Garnet Eugene of Kentucky and David (Shelly) Higgins of Sycamore.
He worked many long hours for 44 years at Atlas Crankshaft, which became Thyssen Krupp of Fostoria until 2009 when it closed.
He was active with pee-wee baseball and Carey Plus in Carey. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and mowing the yard. He enjoyed nightly calls with his nephew, Joel E. Ziegler. Roger celebrated his life with visits with family, friends and nurses. He loved to tell stories. He enjoyed breakfast with Charlie and Janet May.
