James Hawkins Sr.

James F. Hawkins Sr., 55, of Carey, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 6:13 a.m. at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
Born in Findlay on Sept. 20, 1962, he was the son of the late Walter and Agnes (Kitzler) Hawkins.
Jim married Vickie A. Niederkohr on Dec. 21, 1985, in Carey. She survives in Carey.
Also surviving are their three children, Kaydri M. (Marcus Everly) Hawkins, Nathaniel W. (Bridgett) Hawkins and Aleena R. (Jadin Flugga) Hawkins, all of Carey; four grandchildren, Leila, Paeton, Avah and Jasper; five siblings, Marsha Hawkins, Marilyn Hawkins, Anita Conn, Walter, “Buck” (Becky) Hawkins and John (Penny) Hawkins, and an “adopted” son, Eugene Chancey.
Jim was preceded in death by a son, James F. Hawkins Jr.; a sister Karen S. Hawkins and a nephew, Mike Williams.
He worked at the former Blackhawk Plastics in Upper Sandusky and for Wayne Niederkohr Construction in Carey. He was a member of The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey.
Jim loved camping, hunting, fishing and golf cart riding. But most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 2-8 p.m. at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a scripture service will begin at 7:45 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the basilica of Our Lady of Consolation with the Rev. J.R. Hadnagy, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey.
