He was also an advocate for the disabled. Tim gained some notoriety in writing the poem called Forever Children:
Some people say we don’t fit in
Totally out of place.
I say let us work at our own speed
Setting our own pace.
We’ll be forever children
We’ll be forever young.
We just want a feeling of belonging
Don’t want to hurt anyone.
Ok, I admit we’re different
But we try to get along.
Anyways, since when is “different”
Another word for “wrong.”
All we ever ask you
Is to accept us for what we are.
Give us some sense of personal worth
To us we’re up to par.
We know sometimes it’s tough
For us to stand tall and erect.
But we don’t want to get rough
We just want a little respect.
